The Professional Journey
A CV for a new business is always a challenge and can appear to be very daunting to write.
However, a Curriculum Vitae is simply a brief account of a person`s education, qualification and previous occupations.
Here is my account of how my life has equipped me and my business - to help you.
1980's decade of big hair, spandex and leg warmers.
1981 - 1989
My writing moved from essays and dissertations to community reports and legal documents.
The low point was my tutor not understanding - the good, the bad and the ugly - he didn`t think there was any good in Salford.
The high point - an award winning public consultation project - even though our converted Play Bus broke many paving stones
1990's decade of great TV if you loved Friends and the Rugrats. Not a great time for healthy eating as McDonalds encouraged people to super size their meals.
Computers replaced typewriters and tippex lost it`s appeal.
1991 - 1999
This Wordsmith added media work to an ever increasing writing portfolio.
The knowledge base expanded to include Mental Health, child development and the workings of town centres.
2000's decade remembered for the tragedies of The Twin Towers and the Tsunami in Asia amongst other human tragedies. The decade that saw the mobile phone begin its mission to rule our lives (or so it seems).
2000 - 2009
Fortunately on a personal level it was a wonderful decade of writing opportunities - working in a part of London where the community included people from over 100 countries and any writing had to address cultural and language barriers. On a lighter note the first ever British Cucumber Festival further illustrated the benefit of a mind that was always happy to think outside the box.
2010's. A decade without a name but remembered for the first iPad unveiled by Steve Jobs, for the eruption of Eyjafjallajokull, and of course the amazing 2012 London olympics
2010 - 2019
The decade I started to write poetry motivated by a need to put in words the heartache of losing my 4 legged soul mate - Elmo. A time when I truly embraced the idea of being a small business with all the passion, pride and heartaches it brings. Reading included law essays and archaeology research on behalf of both my student kids. Thank goodness for Rutland - one of the most inspiring places ever.
“Every secret of a writer’s soul, every experience of his life, every quality of his mind, is written large in his works.”
